# Zyler

> A desktop notes app with a Notion-style block editor. Notes live in a folder on your machine, and a built-in AI can read and edit them with your own API key.

Key facts: Zyler is a desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Notes are
stored on the user's machine as ProseMirror JSON files in a local folder (not
Markdown — Markdown import/export is supported). The block editor engine, Rune,
is open source under MPL-2.0 (https://github.com/ocai-labs/rune-editor); the
app is distributed from https://github.com/ocai-labs/zyler. The built-in AI assistant is
bring-your-own-key: notes stay local, AI calls go to the provider the user
chooses with their key, or fully local via Ollama.
